Dexcoat 3A
DexCoat 3 A is designed as a mould release agent for epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester, phenolic and other thermosetting resins. It is an advanced polymeric resin in a non- chlorinated organic solvent blend. It provides an extremely durable film capable of giving many releases per application and will not contaminate the released surface.
Advantages
- Easy application
- Non-contaminating

DEXCOAT 3A Properties
(Swipe left/right to reveal table columns on mobiles)
| Properties | |
| Colour/Appearance | Clear, colourless liquid |
| Specific Gravity | approx. 0.75g |
| Solvents | Aliphatic hydrocarbon |
| Shelf Life | 12 months |
- The polymeric resin used in DexCoat 3 A reacts with moisture.
- Please ensure can is resealed after use.
- DexCoat 3 A is supplied ready to use, no shaking or mixing is required. Do not mix with other products or solvents.
- For new, porous or damaged moulds, DexSeal should be used prior to applying the DexCoat 3 A See DexSeal technical data sheet for application details.
Application
Please read safety data sheet before use.
If necessary, polish mould to desired level of gloss. If a wax or silicone-based release agent has been used previously, remove all traces of previous product using a solvent based cleaner such as DexClean.
DexCoat 3 A can be applied over existing semi- permanent release agents without a further cleaning step. However, the mould should be clean and dry before use.
Mould cleaning and release agent application should be performed in a well-ventilated area.
- Apply DexCoat 3 A to clean, dry cotton cloth.
- Gently wipe over mould surface covering an area of approximately 0,5 m². Vigorous rubbing or polishing is not required.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 on the adjacent area. Ensure a good overlap with the previous area to provide complete coverage.
- Repeat until mould is completely coated.
- When dry, allow a further 15 minutes between coats for the film to cure.
- Repeat Steps 1- 5 above for a further 3 coats (4 in total).
- When dry, allow final film to cure for at least 30 minutes at room temperature before moulding. Allowing a longer cure or heat curing (e.g. 15 min. at 60 °C) will improve film durability.
Reapplication
When release becomes hesitant, reapply one coat of DexCoat 3 A in the same manner as described above.

Dexcoat FW
Dexcoat FW is a unique combination of a wax and a semi-permanent polymer release agent. This combination provides the user with the advantages of an easy-to-apply liquid wax and the multiple release performance of a polymer resin. By incorporating a wax into the formulation, a visible film is produced that enables easy, user-friendly application and complete mould coverage.
Advantages
- Easy application
- Non-contaminating
- Non-chlorinated, ecologically friendly solvents
- Low odour
- Reduces mould build- up
- Can be used on all mould surfaces
- Durable; provides multiple releases per application
DEXCOAT FW Properties
(Swipe left/right to reveal table columns on mobiles)
| Properties | |
| Colour/Appearance | Clear, colourless liquid |
| Coverage | 20-25m2/l |
| Shelf Life | 12 months |
The polymeric resin used in DexCoat FW reacts with moisture. Please ensure can is resealed after use.
DexCoat FW is supplied ready to use. Do not mix with other products or solvents.
Application
- Mould surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and dried. All traces of prior release must be removed. This may be accomplished by using Dexclean or other suitable cleaner.
- Shake Dexcoat FW before and during use.
- Apply Dexcoat FW with a clean, lint free, cotton wiping cloth.
- Wet the cloth with Dexcoat FW until it is damp but not dripping.
- Starting at one end of the mould, wipe a generous wet film over a 1 m2 area. Repeat until mould is completely covered.
- Allow Dexcoat FW to dry. This usually takes 5 to 10 minutes at approx. 20°C with good ventilation.
- Check mould for any region that appears uncoated (where haze is not present). If any uncoated areas are observed, reapply product in the above manner.
- With a clean, lint free, cotton wiping cloth, polish the Dexcoat FW coated mould until a high gloss is obtained. Change cloth frequently to ensure wax build-up on the cloth is not re-deposited on the mould.
- Repeat steps another 3 times to give a total of 4 coats. This multiple coat system allows the Dexcoat FW resin to seal any mould pores and give a sufficient film thickness to permit multiple releases.
- After the final film has been polished, the mould is ready for use.
- For large moulds polishing is generally easier if coating and polishing are accomplished in stages. For example, coat a 3 X 3 m area, allow to haze, and polish. Repeat with the next area, until entire mould is coated.
- Application of Dexcoat FW at mould temperatures above 35 °C may cause streaking.
Mould Touch Up
Abrasion will gradually cause wear and parts will begin to adhere to the mould surface if a continuous release film is not maintained. It’s best to always touch-up the mould at the first sign of diminished release, before release becomes difficult.
Simply touch-up the entire mould or apply spot touch-ups to high wear areas following steps 1-3 under directions for use. Only 1 coat is usually required for touch-up. Typically, 15 minutes cure time is required prior to resumption of moulding.
